I heard a myth about the side of the car the petrol filler is. You know on your petrol gauge there is a picture of a petrol pump. The filler cap on the car is on the same side as the hose on the little pic..... Has been on my cars but could be a coincidence.
(Cue stw'ers nipping outside to check.....)

Every time I fill up with fuel I find that the filler cap is where it had been the previous time. Could be a coincidence though.

Don't worry about Ernie. Apparently he has a significant amount of sand in his vagina. Doctors believe it may be terminal 🙁

Anyway, I have a little arrow on mine to indicate the filler side.

Fiesta btw.

Same for my Focus.
On another note has anyone else noticed those people that will wait an age for a pump on the filler cap side of their car - don't they know the hose reaches around (as it were Matron)?

Edit: Hadn't watched the video, obviously Jack Dee's an idiot as well.

I think I'll start a myth of my own. Is the hose always on the right? Therefore, the OP's myth usually works because the vast majority of modern UK cars have the filler cap on the right also. The Fiesta is the obvious exception here (and has been since 1977), maybe other smaller cars as well?

Is there anyone with an indicator that doesn't have the hose on the right?

Hose on the right on both, one left filler, one right filler.

Googling "car dials" the hoses are on the right on all the ones I can see.

Every time I fill up with fuel I'm in a different car 🙂

I can confirm that Rover, being the mavericks that they, er, were, put the filler cap on the left and the hose on the dial on the right. No wonder they went bust.

I find that shortly after finding & opening the filler cap, about £90 disappears from my bank account. Happens every time 🙁

As I've never found a pump hose which won't stretch across the back of a car, I've never worried about which pump I use / where the petrol cap is.

On my Toyota van where the filler is halfway along the LH side of the vehicle I have yet to find a pump hose that will reach around the vehicle (hose on RH side on fuel gauge BTW). Wife's BMW Mini has an arrow on the gauge that points to the side with the filler.
