Seems churlish to go on a killing rampage just over this in these troubled times, but it's exercise and I could be done within an hour - so please solve this for me soon:
Word has started displaying quotation marks as « when I press shift+2
If I do the same here, I get " - which is what I'm used to and doesn't make me all homicidal.
Anyone know what's up ??
(Keyboard is set to UK extended, as has always been, and all other shift+ options work normally)
Check the language the document is set to. Maybe it thinks that those are the form of quotation marks in that language. Can't remember exactly where it is but I think it might be under review and proofing
One check would be to create a second set of closing quotation marks. If you get reverse brackets then it looks like Word is closing the quotation marks and it's a language issue
It does reverse them. I cut'n'pasted my title from word
Good work Leffe (Mr Poirot, I claim my 5 euros) - Seems my writing style is set to "Grammaire & Analyse Avancee" - may be a clue, Watson
I'm* a genius !

Almost no blood spilt at all - and they shouldn't have been out bloody clapping anyway
happy days
I get weird spell check languages for the odd sentence or even single words for the last 18 months or so. Can't seem to cure it with settings or deleting all other languages from Windows. It's really odd.
Excellent, is happy. Was it just set to a funny language? Maybe the doc came from someone else first. Sometimes stuff is too clever
Yeah, French (or a variant). Didn't find it in a dialog box anywhere. Opened a new blank doc and special-pasted the plain text from the French one. All back to normal for now
No - was a blank doc that I created. I did paste in some text from the WWW but hard to imagine that this could reset my language (virus and malware scans found nothing)
Filed under "Meh" - or perhap "Bof"
Cheers !
