hi guys this is my first post , i bought myself a specialized epic frame 2nd hand , when i built it all up and rode it the rear shock moves about 5mm . no matter what psi i have in the shock , and to get that 5mm i bounced with all my weight (80kg) very hard so i sent my shock to mojo £152 latter and it is hardly any diff i know that they are suppose to be diff to the way they work compared to normal shock . the epic i had before was alot more active than this , it does move but because its so little it feels like one of the early full sussers that didnt run on bearings . i feel like selling and going back to basics , a hardtail , please help

Hi baggies, welcome to STW! Do you know what year the bike is, what type of shock is it? (if it is the Brain shock then is it the 'Fox' or 'Specialized' version?. I have a 2003 epic and the rear suspension wont activate by pressing down, it needs the rear to be lifted then pushed down to get movement. Have you tried changing the preload dial? Im on my mobile but when I get home I will find the setup manual archive.

As above, The Brain does make the rear end of the bike feel virtually rigid if you give the saddle a squidge.

I assume it has the brain fade dial on the remote part of the shock (like the Stumpy). If so, turn that all the way to soft and ride it of some kerbs...

What happens?

I'd be speaking to mojo about the issue, pure & simple.
If there is a fault with there work they will/should rectify it, IME.

thanks guys , its a fox float r brain shock , its not got the adjuster on the top , all it has is the red dial (rebound i think ) , that seems to make no diff when you adjust that either . mojo said i should run the shock at 160psi , it dont move at all at that , im running it at 80psi to get it to do anything . its so much harder then the epic i had before
