OK, currently running iphone 4 pay mthy sim only, had no problems at all until this morning, phone all fine but went to pick up and nothing, no buttons work, nothing, got home and plugged into PC, still nothing like its just died.

Any ideas until I get to the 02 shop.

dont bother with 02 shop

go to apple store

if they say battery fried then say thanks but no thanks to the 90 quid flat fee replacement.

then get a battery kit off ebay for 6 quid. 2 screws and a push fit

easy job

Have you tried a hard reset.

Press and hold the home button the simultaneously press and hold the sleep button. Continue holding both buttons until the apple logo appears on screen. Shouldn't take more than 15 seconds.

Shouldn't you be out smashing looms or something.

That 'no country for old men' meme is getting a hammering recently... Lol. It is a good'un though.

Agreed. It needs freshening up.

My 3GS did the same, also requiring a hard reset. Not to mention regularly crashing.

Other phones are available.

The guy next to me at work's 3GS has just died and the battery has expanded to like 4x it's normal depth (the case has split apart). I thought it might be about to explode a la cheap Chinese light batteries but he Googled it and apparently it's a safety feature and they are designed to do that after a certain number of discharge cycles?!

Sounds like BS to me.
"My phones just exploded"
"Its ok sir, its a safety feature"
