[Closed] HELP - house alarm going off!!!!!

Our alarm is going off after one of our children randomly pressed some buttons.

The situation is that, after an unconnected fault, we did (or so we thought) a full hard reset and hadn't got around to re-programming it.

It is a Veritas R8 and we have tried what we believe to be the correct engineer code (1234 or 5678) but it isn't resetting it.

The thing is - the button pressing seems to have re-activated the alarm and every time we open an exit door, it is triggering it again.

Any thoughts?

HELP!!!!

I've just bought a house and one day the alarm was triggered and went on and on and on. We ripped the box off the wall, took it in to the garden and smashed it up with a sledge hammer. aaaaaaah, peace and quiet!

Can you get into the engineers menu? If so you it's likely that the exit doors are set as 24hrs - you need to change the parameters back to exit only.

Try that to begin with.

Have you tried 1111, 0000 or 8888?

Failing that, this:

In the alarm sounder box will make it quiet on a permanent basis.

Can't call the manuf or supplier?

Tried calling the manufacturer and they just suggested the engineer codes above and when those didn't work said they couldn't do anything else.

The fitter has packed it all in and is living on a farm with a religious sect (seriously).

Just tried a local firm but they can't promise that they could get out today.

🙁

Is the button a 'panic' button. They often need a key to reset them so it might just be that stuck down?

How do we know you're aren't a part-time burgular who's trying to switch off some little old ladies house alarm.

About £400 actually, can't remember what we paid exactly but at least the house & garage are well covered.
Bloke in Selby if you want to know his number.

Is this an alarm that your neighbours can hear?

If you lived by me, and it went off all the time, I would turn it off for you.

No - it is just going off internally fortunately.

So - it turns out that the original fitter had changed the default engineer code and there is nothing at all (no hard system reset or anything) that can now over-ride this!!!! They only fix (as advised by the guy who came out yesterday and confirmed by the manufacturers) is to replace the whole mother board.

I have tried calling the original guy (phone no longer connected) and have emailed but I doubt they will have interweb on the Love Farm.
