I change insurers every year, and sometimes lose track, there’s always an email confirmation, so I just search my inbox.

Put car registration into email search box.

Insurance Checker

That will let you know if it is insured. Then relax a little and go through all your stuff to find out who it's insured with.

"Trawl"? Don't you have a search function?

Typically you’ll only need your insurance details when (a) it’s up for renewal (b) you change car or (c) you’ve had a crash

You’ve had a crash, haven’t you?

I've had this a few times in years gone past.

As said, email search with your reg plates is the easiest solution.😁

Just rag it past the po po. You'll know soon enough if it's not insured...

I feel your pain, I 'try' to stick the current certificate in a google drive folder these days, but it doesn't always happen and my credit card only have 6 months history most of the time these days which makes it harder!

This. I download the docs (I know.... who the hell does that!!) to a folder on Google Drive (one folder per car/per year).
Generally you only ever need them if something's gone wrong!!
