Do you have easy access to booze, a toastie maker and Netflix/Prime/iPlayer?

Spend £1000 on head to toe Gore-Tex and go walk up and down Keswick high street. 80,000 people can't be wrong.

I'm on here, so obviously I have a selection of bikes, gravel, HT, FS.

Don't really drink and no toastie maker. I was hoping for some kind of outdoorsy suggestion? If all else fails it will be coke and hookers.

Do you actually RIDE them though? Cos as I understand it, that's definitely not a prerequisite for this forum! 😉

Get on an appropriate bicycle, ride to Carsington Water and learn to SUP or windsurf or something?

Shhhh. It's not a Holiday in Scotland.

Why, why, do we get the day in wet cold January instead?

Because you have to be punished for having really good access laws.

I'm not far from the peaks - you're welcome to come and paint my window frames. It'll help me so I can go and do more fun stuff like riding my bike

I actively plan not to do things on BH weekends as there are 'other' people doing them, I'll stay home in favour of a quiet regular weekend thanks.

Uh-oh, weather actually starting to look a bit better! Depending on how much my Lyme disease related malaise abates, I've been fancying a gravel loop around St Andrews and Tentsmuir (flooded singletrack notwithstanding). Maybe Monday could finally be the day!

^^ a lovely loop, if it's dried out, had a cracking spin round a reduced version last summer :

Bad planning, wife and GF away simultaneously.  On reflection, think I’d be happy to do nothing for once

Bank Holiday? Is there one sometime soon? They became irrelevant a few years ago when my job shift patterns required me working two weekends out of four. The compensation was I’d get over 200 days off a year, plus 25 paid days off, a day off for my birthday and a wellbeing day that could be taken any time I wanted. Now I’m retired, bank holidays have even less relevance.

My shift went - five days working, four days off, five days working, five days off, four days working, five days off. Rinse and repeat. Take four day’s holiday and have three consecutive weeks off.
They were 12 hour days, but stress-free and easy to deal with. I rather miss that job…

Ok so I decided not to go away. Just met a mate for a SUP, coffee and lunch. Now reading Lost Lanes Central and planning a ride.
