So.....got at least two hedgehogs living in the back garden (walled garden so god knows how they got in.... or if they can get out!), anyway - recently been witnessing two of them in what looks like some kind of stand-off accompanied by loud snorting noises. The larger of the two constantly following the smaller nose to nose, and the smaller constantly backing away and letting out occasional squeaks.
Is this some kind of aggressive 'get off my patch' type thing, or just hedgehog foreplay*
*unlikely as it last far too long! 😀
Any ideas? as I'm worried in case I need to relocate one of them to a safer area where he isn't going to get bullied.
It's a fine line for all species. The best loving always comes after the best fighting.
Probably just mating. All will be fine, if a little prickly.
I think you should video this and get it uploaded so we can all watch it before the "filter" is introduced.

It's quite clearly a stand-off.
Both have hedge to hog but would also like to hog the others piece of hedge - they wont share...
