I'm selling these trousers at one third less than HebTroCo - as a loss leader

after production costs, VAT, Ebay fees etc, I'll make less than £6 a pair on the sales of these jeans

Someone either doesn't understand what "loss leader" means or is as full of shit as they claim everyone else is.

This whole thing just seems to get grubbier and grubbier. All round.

Do they wipe clean? Because with the amount of either spit or a.n.other bodily fluid being splashed all over them from the opposing viewpoints on this thread, they want to.

This adds nothing but an anagram of STW and HebCoTro is "Both to screw".

Slow day at work.

I think the ebay Ad is another company based in Tavistock who are buying from Shorties. If you read their backstory as listed above they say Shorties stepped in when their, presumably Tavistock, factory got flooded in 2015. This ties up with google facts https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=tavistock+flooding+2015

This is getting even sillier. Ironically I actually need some new jeans/trousers. Can someone advise on what I should buy? It's an ethical minefield and I don't want to be either on the wrong side of the STW lynch mob, or spat at the next time I go for a pint in the Old Gate.

Buy from Spencers at Friendly.
That way, you will remain neutral.

Daz, there's a guy in Devon banging out pairs made by Eastern Europeans doing them from home on piece work.

Are you out on Monday? I'll tell you some stuff that isn't on here.

I heard the last copy of STW includes hidden messages that lead you to the only pair of HebTroCo made from gold cloth, woven by Nora in the only remaining hand spinning wheel in use in Yorkshire.

Ouch!
Crikey ... 😯

Which naturally lead to the question who do you intend to buy from for your next pair of jeans trousers? 😮

Mike Baldwin became chiefly known for his ruthlessness in business and his string of ruined relationships.

Actually the more you look at baldwin the more you see life imitating art.

Started out in jeans manufacture then later on he turned handbags.

Somewhere in the middle he got into ladies underwear.

Makes you think.

Whilst there is some predictable comedy in this farce its shame we cant have some decent clothes made in the UK without the aid of child slave labour or cloth production that pollutes someone elses country.

I would go for better value and less hipster style if anyones considering a UK Troos mk2.

Wilburt - Spencers Trousers of Friendly which, coincidentally, is near Hebden might be who you're looking for.
In business for decades before the trousermen; 7 day turnaround for made to measure; wide range of fabrics - there is a concentration of mills and dyers within 50 miles of them.
No, I have no connection with them.
Their manager posted earlier in this thread.

Haven't read the thread, but must be a good 'un given the pages...

Couldn't see the busienss model from the start - and amazed at the price that people were prepared to pay from the outset. But good luck to them if they can switch from bikes to breeks successfully.

Just off for a MTB ridee in a £6 pair of Lidl workman's shorts, so what do I know?

So theres a new story to tell then?

Ed said: “As our brand has grown, we’ve realised that people want to buy products with a story, and they want to feel connected with where it comes from and how it’s made.

“We heard about this cotton mill that was opening up a couple of years ago and it was so exciting. The story of English Fine Cottons is a great one and it fits with ours perfectly."

I have to say that I'm put off buying, I'm sure the owners aren't bothered though.

Maybe it doesn't matter if it's a true story, just so long as it's a sellable one.

it doesn't and from both sides you'll get some dickhead thats actually read enough on the internet to believe anything thats written on it and then try and pass it off as fact

I guess it all depends what you want from your premium priced item. If you are looking for quality or story, lifestyle and quality?

I have most of my clothes tailored, as primarily because I can afford to, but equally I'm pretty scrawny and have big thighs. So made to measure looks better and I like the quality. But I don't really care about the story bit, I just want to look good in nice gear. If I'm unlucky my trousers might tell the story of what I last ate! ?

Seems the Brant has just gone a bit overboard on the story for something that's essentially just a pair of keks. It never mattered that his cheap frames needed a coke can shim as the target buyers where quite happy with this as they ticked other boxes. But the premium buyers are just a bit more ****.

Hopefully the storm will pass and all those involved in this increasingly grimy story will keep trading successfully. I can't see Rapha getting in this message, but I imagine there are more people guiding the ship.

tbf I'm founder no175 and I like mine but they have got quite an old-fashioned high waist; I'm tempted to get a pair cords. in a perfect world I suppose it would have been nice for shorties to carry on with hebcotro but the world isn't perfect is it, most importantly I hope the seamstresses at shorties still have work from wherever the next trouser buyer comes from.

Actually looking and digging and knowing someone has done this is next level weird. Jesus, haven't you got anything better to do?

I thought the eBay comments were made by a 3rd party, not Mr Pickles?

Still, at least they've been saved for posterity on this thread.

3...2...1...

(It would be nice to think that this represented a cessation of hostilities between all the parties involved)
