Morning Folks,

Need a bit of advice re heating in our cellar.

We currently have our cellar as our office/study. The room isn't massive and is currently heated by a single storage heater (the only one in the house) wired into an economy seven meter* of our electrics.

Now we could do with replacing the storage heater with something more efficient and moving away from the dual meters to a single rate (I am led to believe this is cheaper).

DO any of you have any experience with oil filled rads? Unfortunately getting a normal rad off of our central heating isn't an option plus we could do with ad hoc heating independent of the main system.

The cellar is uber insulated and when warm stays warm for quite a while.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance,

Mark

*timing clock is buggered - electricity company think we have been massively over billed due to the storage heater drawing energy out of the off peak hours 😈 😈 😈

i'd just get an oil radiator or a fan heater and some kind of plug in time switch to warm it up before you go in (more important witht the oil rad.) if you just need it now and again and want something quick to heat it up use a fan heater

I used 2 oil filled rads in my flat (bedroom and lounge) while saving to get a new central heating system fitted. The mate i borrowed them from uses them to heat his garage and workshop.

They worked really well for me i found digital 7 day timers online and connected them through them so it would turn on and off in the moring and evening but if you do this check the ratings of the timer so that you are not going to overload it with the rad.

So the flat is now much warmer with full central heating but they did the job well for what they were.
