Got called out at 3.30 this morning to attend a fire incident. Oil tank went up and possible pollution to nearby water course.
House owners in a state of shock, neighbours property pretty badly damaged. Neighbours didnt have smoke alarms so were roused by frantic hammering on doors and windows.
Moral of this story is get yourselves some smoke alarms.
wow you must be at a busy station if you post on here when youve had a fire 😉
good point well made tho , and they are free too if you call the brigade (west yorks anyway i presume others too)
PMSL @ firestarter.
out of interest, how(TF) does an oil tank "go up" ?
(other than "very nicely indeed)
Surely the guys in the house that burned originally would have been better having the smoke alarm, and woken the next door neighbours by banging on the doors (presumably as happened) as you'd rather get them out before the next door neighbours house had anything burning in it?
Not a fire bobby I am an Environment Officer, got called to see if any of the oil had made it into a brook.
Oil tank was next to shed that caught fire, they think it was Linseed oil rags.
As I said first fire incident I have attended, scarey stuff.
ah apoligies , mind it was in jest 😉 coffeeking id rather everyone had smoke alarms tbh

What happens if the people in house of origin weren't in?
Great advice that, don't fit smoke alarms your neighbours will knock on your door if you house is filled with smoke.
[s]scarey[/s] scary stuff
Yup, that's why we get paid the big bucks.........oh hang on 🙄
Many years ago, got woken up by the fire alarm in the early hours of the morning. Quick check, no fire, reset the alarm and head back to bed. Alarm goes off again, check again, reset alarm. After the fourth reset phone the fire brigade. They turn up and start to check all the flats in the block.
Turns out the guy in the top flat had come home from the pub/club after a heavy session, put some bread under the grill and then fallen asleep. A rather charred oven/grill was deposited on the front lawn.
