The wife is thinking of buying an HD camcorder and I'm not really sure what features make a good one? She doesn't want to spend a huge amount on it so does anyone have any recommendations or have any idea of how much a decent one would cost? Many thanks.

Nokia 1020 on O2 (64gb exclusive) is also a smart phone.

Stills camera that has a good video mode would be my choice.

Budget? That will entirely dictate her options. Not all HD is created equal. What does she want to make videos of?

She wants to mainly just shoot family gatherings/kids growing up etc. Budget around £250-£300. Surely there must be something out there more suitable than a smart phone?
