Pretty shocking at the min, on several one-a-day's at the minute. Eye drops help with the eyes.

Might have to make my annual trip to the docs and get some roids.

If you aren't already, try wearing glasses/sunglasses(yes, even indoors).
I had crazy bad hayfever as a kid and that always helped.

Yep, same here, and we've got builders in and there's dust everywhere. I hate June, but generally I'm ok once I get into July.

Good it's not just me then, yesterday afternoon I had to leave dealing with customers to the others as I was a snotty crying mess! Double dose today to see if it helps.....

Try Acrivastine, I use it for a nut allergy but my doc reckons it's the most powerful antihistamine available over the counter. It does a right job.

Try Acrivastine

Thats what Benadryl is. The others don't seem to even touch my symptoms.

My son is struggling with his allergies this time around...using Octrivine for the eyes and a prescription for the sneezing but not much help.

Mine's not too bad at the minute, but then I do suffer more earlier on in the year rather than now.

Was out in the fields with the dog yesterday morning and he was leaving clouds of pollen as he ran through the grass, so much so I slow mo videod it. As a kid I was a bad sufferer but now rarely get a sniffle which is odd.

Ditto to most of the above. It's pissing down with pollen. I just remember all those hours sat in exams at school with a pile of tissues next to me. I reckon I would have been the next Steven Hawking if it hadn't been for my hayfever...

Over-the-counter antihistamines!? I should be so lucky.. Double-dosing on prescription tablets (120mg fexofenadine) currently, plus prescription steroid nasal spray, plus eyedrops.. Only just keeping it in check - still a sneezing mess early morning and evenings.

OTC medication? I wish..

I had to blow my nose twice on the train home tonight, shocking.

Used to get hayfever very badly as a nipper, seems to be lessening as I age.

Try Acrivastine
Thats what Benadryl is. The others don't seem to even touch my symptoms.

Be careful, there are 2 types of Benadryl: One a day which you should never buy as it's just Cetirizine which should cost <1£ for 14. And Relief which is the acrivastine is great in my opinion, and part of my hayfever arsenal.

I take a Cetirizine each morning (I think it's slightly better than Loratadine) but that's often not enough (like the last few days) and when needed I'll take an acrivastine. That usually gets rid of any symtoms within 15 minutes, but wears off eventually. I use Beconase nose spray in the morning or night if required (mostly at the start of the summer) but try not to use it every day as I've heard it's not good to use permanently. And finally Optrex Itchy eye drops as itching requires.

Never heard of acrivistine, but will investigate. Certirizine twice a day plus spray isn't quite managing. Now trying nasal balm on top of it all.

I've been getting a lot of headaches and I think it's from the hay fever. I've been taking cetirizine once a day but it's not brilliant.

All of you who are doubling your doses- were you advised to do that or are you just ignoring the instructions on the package leaflet?

I thought I'd become resistant to the antihistamine tabs, glad it's not just me & there's been a spike. 30 degrees at the weekend to. Still, longest day soon, roll on winter

Jesus Christ my nostrils have opened up a portal to hell, its like Ghostbusters here, ectoplasm is shooting out of me. I'm Spiderman unloading at a soggy biscuit competition. I'm caned more tissue than I did aged 14. Loratadine hasn't touched it, I'm a snuffing wreck, worse still I'm deep in the countryside, many miles from the nearest chemist. Please send acravastine reinforcements before my face melts off.

Sympathies to everyone here as it gets me bad too. Important to start taking the daily tabs well before spring i think (no good this year of course).

It normally kicks off early and carries on. Mercifully i have been almost symptom free this year.. which i was discussing yesterday with the OH. I have the full set of asthma, hayfever and eczema. As the eczema flared up last year i was referred to the hospital and given Azathioprine, to help wean me off the steroid tabs i was on, which is an immune system suppressant. I can only assume that is sorting the hayfever too? If so its doing a great job!

Just back from the doctors. Prescribed - Fexofenadine tablets, Flucticasone furoate nasal spray and nedocromil sodium eye drops.
Interestingly he reckons sea water based nasal wash was one of the most effective options, I've got that too.
Here's hoping it all works!

Just deal with symptoms - diphenhydramine is bad news - I've been a hay fever sufferer all my life - gave up all medication years ago - My eyes stream constantly and my skin itches to high heaven but I know what im dealing with and just get on with things - Long term use of antihistamines will more likely cause complications with allergies . .

Cetirizine in the morning, Loratadine in the evening.

Due to year round sinus problems I also do the nasal rinse - pretty bogging at first but you get used to it and it really does a great job of flushing pollen out of your airways (especially in the evening). I don't bother using prepackaged saline. Just get some cheap 10ml syringes off ebay and make up your own saline. After a sinus op the NHS kindly gave me a recipe:

0.5 heaped tsp bicarbonate of soda
1.5 heaped tsp table salt
500ml clean water (boiled and cooled)

Ok so who else has been hit by the 2018 "Pollen Bomb"?

I attempted to rescue the NHS by not claiming my repeat prescription until now, but was told today at Drs reception with streaming eyes and a tissue in hand that is left it too long, and needed to see a GP to confirm I still have hayfever, next appointment 7 weeks .

FFS.

Humans are awesome - 4 and a half decades wondering what all the fuss was about. And at pushing 47, my body has now decided to develop Hay Fever. I’ve had a right couple of weekends. FFS. 😂

Started sinus rinsing again which has helped a bit - when I bloody remember to do it - which is normally too late.

The last week has been a killer for me.I,ve had a sore throat, eyes glued together on a morning, due to god knows what reason. Also blocked up runny nose.Could this really just be hay fever?Surely the symptoms would not be this intense.I suppose having asthma is an extra complication though.

I have been suffering from bad hayfever for many years.  Last year was the worst.

But then I went to Thailand and got some herbal medication (as I mentioned in some other threads a while back) and this year I am still wondering if I have been cured or the North East pollen has not started yet, because I have not felt any pollen at all.

I am totally fine this year with only two or three times itchy eyes that's all.  I can breath very well with no block nose or runny nose, eyes are also not puff up etc.

Am I cured I don't know but I know I am not suffering anything this year at all.
