All my life the Tottentham boys have gone under the name of the Yids/Yiddo's, chanting it at matches and definately wearing the accolade as a badge of pride. If you read the article the provenance of the thing as stated by the club is true. however, the term Yid does have pejorative undertones in some contexts, but equally it has deeply respectful ones too. Depends how and where its used by whom I guess.
So what right do the society of black lawyers have to interfere? Are they in fact correct to do so?
Discuss.

EDF? What has a French energy company got to do with football nicknames?
I am looking forward to discussing this issue with some Jewish friends this weekend actually. Im very interested to hear what their view is.
I have heard the term used in a negative context, but I've also heard it used affectionately, as well as by Jewish people themselves. Indeed, I was told I looked like a 'right Yid' when I donned a kippah at a recent shivah.
Also might be interesting to hear what Mark Bosnitch has to say on the matter.
I dunno, but i'll always be a Yid whatever the black lawyers say.
Two ethnic groups not really well known for looking out for each other in recent decades. ๐
"Fans are there to watch football and we are actually deeply saddened that fans are more concerned with what they chant than, in a sense, the game they are supposed to be watching."
I don't think he gets the whole football thing at all.
