I paid for some footy merch from someone on fb using pp gift. Again, £4, so not concerned.
He said he'd send it at the weekend. This was last week.
Weekend arrives and he says he can't find it so will refund me and to watch for the email. That was Sunday night.
Should be instant right as you can't "refund" a gifted payment, right?

I think you can refund a gift. You can certainly send them a gift back of the same amount
No, there’s no refund on a “gift” (F&F now I think). Yes, you’ve been done up like a kipper 😀 (although it’s also possible he just hasn’t been arsed yet as it’s only £4, maybe you’ll see it at some point if you keep reminding him, like you say it’d be instant)
I don't know about F&F refunds but I was sent a refund on PayPal recently and it took quite a few days to come through

Yes.
If a refunder doesn't have any funds in their PayPal account it can take quite a few days for it to turn up in the refundees account. Something to do with the way PP requests money from their bank.
