To all those in Wales or Welsh around the world, have a great day!
How do you manage to celebrate being “Welsh” or Welsh culture without the whiff of facism present when us “English” mark St George’s day?
Celebrating St Georges day to me is a bit like going for a walk somewhere beautiful but with something nagging at the back of your mind that something is wrong. When you get home you realise that you had trodden in some dog shit at some point. Have I got a romantic view of Wales, Scotland and Ireland, have you grown from the various separatist movements and evolved to be quite nice?
Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant used to be great in school. We had half day, the majority of which was all singing and stuff then we went home and if it was sunny, went looking for snakes. The best bit was wearing a leek or daffodil or both. Some kids used to wear huge leeks and we would chew and eat them and dare the daffodil wearers to eat their daffodils.
it’s not tinged with fascism… probably because there is no Union Jack, we are the underdogs in most stuff anyway and don’t take ourselves too seriously or think that we are superior. Wales is a just a nice place as it is and fascism wouldn’t really work because the fascists would have the piss taken out of them for being t***s.
Yes I agree. Being proud when you're the underdog is healthy, being proud when you're the top dog is just hubristic and not very nice.

Well, that's not true now, is it. The English think they're better than everyone else, and the Welsh, Scottish, Irish and assorted colonies all know they're better than the English. 😁
