Since covid came along, I've sadly sacked off our annual winter solstice group ride and gathering; called 'Soup Dragon' for reasons that everyone has long forgotten. We would gather most of the local gang of riders for a wee mid-winter celebration, with a local trail ride sliding around on the mud or the ice and then devour soup and cake in front of the fire. Squeezing 20 odd folk into the house was always a bit of a challenge but the table covered in home-made cakes that many brought was usually enough of a draw. Personally, I think I'll head out shortly and spend a bit of quality time in a forest.
I think we're planning a group ride for Hogmanay this year but that's not quite the same.
Planning a bivvy tonight if everything falls into place.
