I'm at home convalescing at the moment, and went to borrow some films to watch. Of the 5, 3 have made me cry - with The Diving Bell and the Butterfly leaving me feeling loads worse than when I started.

I'm going to get some more today so, please, recommend me a film that's actually going to make me feel better. No horror, no rom com.

Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

Little Miss Sunshine!

It's superb!

Email me your address and I'll stick it in the post to you. ๐Ÿ™‚

How about So I Married an Axe Murderer? Mike Myres' finest film and my all time favourite.

EDIT -
Sorry, how rude of me. Get well soon!! ๐Ÿ™‚ (What's up anyway?)

Yip. The bit where he's feeding the guy into the woodchipper really was the top feelgood moment of the whole film ๐Ÿ˜†

zombieland... really it's not a horror, yes it makes you jump occasionally but overall it's funny and feel good (other than the premise the world gone to sh!te), and just watching woody harrelson killing zombies is througly worthwhile.

Otherwise UP & as above Taxi (the french one - olde but ace)

Actually I'm feeling guilty. When I said 3/5 had made me cry, I meant 5/5. Looking forward to some tear free film watching!

Slumdog Millionaire (not a traditional feelgood film but still a great film)
Oceans 11 (Light, frothy but quite watchable and thoroughly entertaining)
Ghost town (Rather funny)
Robots (Clever ideas and funny)
The Holiday (Was "forced" to watch it recently and surprisingly found it quite amusing and entertaining)
The Bourne Trilogy
Pretty much any Bond film
Shrek
Shawshank Redemption
..... and loads more

From films recently watched:

The Hangover was a lot better than it looked, as was Superbad.. both looked like stupid idiot movies but weren't.

Also, Stardust was cool :), and Up was too.

Watership Down will just have the poor chap crying again!

I'd second what Nick said, "Straight story" is a belting film, it's just a feel good human spirit film.

Zombieland is a good no brainer film.

American flyers, Breaking away, and my all time favourit pick me up film........

The Princess Bride!!

The village scenes in Stardust were shot in Castle Combe, where Dr Dolittle was also filmed. Neil Gaiman described the village as being close to Bath and the road to Bristol and London, which is where Castle Combe is situated.
Someone mentioned Spirited Away, to which I can add My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service and Porko Rosso, all Myazaki films, and just wonderful to watch. ...Totoro is one of my all time favourites, and highly recommended.
Amelie and Up are also fabulous, although the first fifteen minutes of Up will have you weeping into your hankie, real lump-in-the-throat stuff. Then it gets very funny.
