headed to Hamsterley Forest soon, was wondering what it was like/could be compared to centres wise, and what tyres were the preferred option; stuck with RR's this now so fingers crossed they'll do.
RR's will have you all over in Hamsters if it is wet. There is some cracking riding up there now. The easiest stuff to find starts up by the 4X start ramp - to get to it, ride along the grove link to the grove, bear left over the bridge and turn right up the dirt track. Follow this all the way past the crossroads and the DH cabin up to the car park at the top. Turn left through the car park and ride owards the 4X start ramp. To the right of this is the start of section 13, when you have ridden this you can either follow the fire road to the left to the DH cabin and ride it again or turn right and ride along the fire road to the tarmac road, trun left and look out for the start of special K on the right hand side. Once you have ridde special K, bear right and follow the fire road to brain Freeze. After that you could follow the black which is short but fairly technical or if you are lucky - team up with a local rider and get a tour of the hidden stuff.
