Noticed a load of what look like hair extensions hanging out the exhaust on the car. I pulled them out, presumably this is the muffling from the back box? Is this bad?
The exhaust has been blowing for ages from somewhere nearer the front - is this coincidence?

If your exhaust is blowing, and shedding it's contents then it's pretty screwed, yes
It's known as "loosing the weasel" round here!

It comes from a while back when i used to work for a fairly famous motorsport and aftermarket "tuning" company that specialised in parts for Japanese rice rockets, and we got a bad batch of back boxes, and for ages you could take one of the cars out on track and it would cough out some hair from the tailpipe. You'd then return the workshop, find the workshop manager and pronounce "That Bl**dy cars lost it's weasel again".......
