[Closed] growing old and grumpy... a question for STW

So what's the key thing that stops you growing grumpy as you grow old? Barnsleymitch is a great example of an older gentleman :lol: who has retained his sense of humour and dare I say it... he's also down with the kidz. When TSY comes along I hope he awards him membership of the awesome club with an appropriate tag. There's lots of happy older people on this forum :) but there's some downright miserable people too (just my perception, but the miserable people tend to be the older forum users). Did the WW2 really knock the humour out of you all? Perhaps the people who deal with the depressing side of the world on a daily basis have to develop a cheery outlook on life and are reminded that their lives aren't actually that bad in the scheme of things... Is maintaining a life outside of work the key? the music/arts/S&M lovers (DezB* et al) all come across as happier people :) Or is it just a British thing? The elderly people I've worked with from other cultures and countries all seem much more youthful in their various ways. Or is it a stage of life thing.. is it normal to be happy until you hit middle-aged, then once you're a granddad you can become young in the mind and cheeky again? Maybe, just maybe, its just a simple case of remembering that everyone is different and priorities/opinions are funny things: the general STW impression is that if someone's are different to yours... then you're obviously weird, stupid or a bad human ;) STW**- I await your opinions. *not saying you're old DezB... just the first music lover i thought of... although the grey sideburns do give of an air of elderly wisdom :lol: **Those young at heart will respond to this accordingly. Those grumpy at heart will no doubt pick apart my post with grumpy eyes and a grumpy mind, see themselves in the grumpy half and accuse me of being young and dumb, not having life experience etc etc... to those I ask one thing: don't assume you know someone or anything about their life by what they've posted on the internet. As TSY has proven on mumsnet, a forum post gives no indication of the real monster behind the screen ;)

There was a time years ago where a few STW'r got banned at the same time. They went on to form another no holds barred forum which still exists today

Dunno if [url= http://www.mlehworld.com/mleh2/index.php ]mlehworld[/url] could cope with fresh blood these days....
