I like how they have an arty picture on the tin because no-one could find the reality of it remotely appealing

@Klunk - WTF is that?!

Surely that cannot be sold within the EU...

We opened a packet in Stick Or Twist in Leeds and they cleared the place and barred the person who bought it in.

This was on the menu for a party thrown for me by my boss on my first weekend in Taiwan. I have never been so pleased to be a vegetarian.

for Roter Stern[/s]

He got there in the end

Personnally cooked right/served correctly, I'd try all of those things, not rushing to try Balut though.
(Not suggesting I'd like them all)

Yarg.

Went for dim sum with some work colleagues a month or so ago, one of whom is from Taiwan, there were some eye openers ordered! The honesty of the menu was funny as well 'deep fried pig stomach/intestines.' Anywhere else it would be 'marinated and scorched pork tripe, served over..etc.' The waitress also made us laugh (nervously) when she brough over some pastries to try for free, describing the filling in broken english as 'pig inside.' We were left wondering as to whether that meant pork inside the pastry, or the insides of a pig...

I'll stick to my ethnically sourced hemp burger and a pint of dolphin tears thanks.

I'd try the chickens feet and I'd certainly have a go at eating the balut, whether or not I'd be able to once in hand is another matter...

Actually the one that I find most upsetting (but have never had) is Ikizukuri. Sashimi prepared and served whilst still alive.

I have eaten surstromming and lived.
On the same subject, this is one of the funniest blogs I have ever read.

Yup, I'd probably give the Italian maggot cheese a try, but the live sashimi is a line I couldn't cross. In oz once my uncle was doing scrambled eggs on the Barbie. After cooking he declared that perhaps a few of the eggs had 'developed', but put a bit more effort in with the whisk ๐Ÿ˜
