Hello,

I've been looking at a holiday in June in Santorini or another greek island and wondered if anyone on here had any recommendations on where to stay? budget is about £1500 for two max.

Cheers,
Andy

We really like this place in Corfu...

It's nowt amazing, but cheap, local to some great Taverners etc, good links to the rest of the island, and, well, just pretty relaxing...

The greek islands offer something for everyone.but for a couples holiday the two best ive been too are stalis in crete and kalamaki in zante.both have plenty of bars nice taverners and nice beaches but are couple and family resorts so not too loud but within 5 miles of party resorts if thats your thing.and you would do a week in either self catering for 1500 including spending money and I like a drink.

Thasos in the Northern Agean is a nice little island, I was there years ago, around '79, and I loved it, quite unspoiled, nice beaches, and Thasos Town had some good cheap restaurants. No idea what it's like these days, but it's a bit off the usual holiday radar, and might be worth a look.

Been going to Lindos for a good few years now and alternating to Faliraki inbetween. I adore Lindos, some amazing Little restaraunts and bars, it's quite hilly for getting around and gets a bit full of tourists from the other resorts in Rhodes. Always go in September as its a bit quieter but still hot.

Another vote for Lindos or Pefkos on Rhodes, my bro used to work in a bar in Lindos and it's a lovely wee place, I'm trying to convince my parents to rent their house out in this country and head out there for 6 months of the year, at the moment they go out 2/3 times a year and are almost locals as they know everyone by name.

Hi,

I went to Candia Park in Crete last year.

We went as a family but it would be fine for couples. Between Agios Nikolaos and Elounda which both have nice restaurants. You can indulge in a bit of culture such as Knossoss or Spinalonga if that is your thing.

Lesbos and Chios are really nice and not too touristy if that is important to you.

Cheers

I like Elounda - Crete. I've been to Stalis, it's ok, but very "english", one "traditional" restaurant served the swordfish steak battered. Now, I like fish & chips & nothing against battered fish, but really? Did find some nice places to eat after a bit of searching.
Paleochora on the south coast of crete - lovely beach & gently shelving with clear waters. Town is small & very relaxed atmosphere. Visit Elafonisi if you're Chania end of the island - Chania nice for a wander round too. Samaria Gorge too. Heraklion end of the island, visit Spinalonga, but get boat from Plaka, not Elounda, as you can then stay on the island as long as you want. Also Lasithi Plateau. Vai if you're happy to drive - very eastern tip of island, palm trees on the beach, very nice.
I like Zante too, lots of good beaches, Blue Caves & Shipwreck well worth a visit, as it turtle watching boat trip. Just give Laganos a wide berth! Gerakos is nice to chill out, beach & a taverna or two, nothing else.

For me Crete has everything. The North has the big resorts, but there are some real gems on the South coast. Plakias and Paleochora are personal favourites, and the stunning Elafonissi beach is not too far away (Best visited early or late season, as it gets a lot of daytrippers in high season). Crete really is a beautiful place if you have the time to have a look around.

I'd also second the West coast of Corfu, lot's of very nice relaxing resorts, with some great beaches, stunning forested hillsides and some great sunsets too.
