I don't think we've had this thread, so may we?

To get the ball rolling...

Submissions suggested with good quality sound, video and editing. Though of course an epic performance is the main thing!

Ooh, proper AC/DC thanks for posting that

That was just a link to 'Let Their Be Rock' but the whole gig is wonderful – I stumbled across it on Sky Arts a year or so ago and I was transfixed.

Here you go - the full gig (I assume, not checked it all)....

Beastie Boys in Glasgow in 1999

I'll need to check again but I'm pretty sure I'm in that video 😀

If I was going to watch a gig on Youtube I think this would be my first choice:

I'm jealous ourmaninthenorth. I've only seen James once it was a bit special though as they were support for The Smiths at the Brighton Dome. Early 85 I think.

Snarky Puppy.

Mind-blowing keyboard player through the middle of the piece. Just astoundingly talented.

Nirvana playing the since-demolished Newcastle Mayfair just as Smells Like Teen Spirit broke in the UK.

A VERY young TooTall was doing his first 'proper' stage security gig as the middle man in the barrier that night. Stood right in front of Cobain and watching 50% gig and 50% audience all night. I enjoyed it.

More AC/DC, mainly for the sheer enthusiasm of the crowd.

My Mrs was at the Liverpool Beastie Boys gig where there was a riot and Adam got arrested and brought back from London. She enjoyed it.

well if we're allowed clips, how about

...bit of a builder at the accessible end of japanese math rock (won't put anyone off...). i like the way the audience gets excited three times near the start: when they recognise the song, when it kicks in, when guest singer comes on; also drummer's face near the end.

There's a chap called Dexbom on Youtube who's been tinkering with deceased VHS and bootleg cassettes to drag the quality back out of them. Here's one I was at, Simple Minds just before they went overblown pomp, it was a brilliant gig, back when you could still dance down the front at Newcastle City Hall.

I think I've linked to Dexbom not Dexbam, an imposter. Here's one from the right channel.Dexbam.

Thanks senor J....you're the man.
Can I also add 'Animal Impulses Tour'by IAMX.
If you ever get the chance to see them you won't be disappointed.
If only I was clever enough to put up a link.

I'll second Nils Frahm at the Montreaux Jazz Festival.

Gogo Penguin at Jazz Sous les Pommiers is another one that I'll happily listen to over and over. I'm very excited about seeing them at Farm Festival in July.

Beta Bands last live gig. Wasn't there but knowing how good they usually were live I am sure it was awesome. Can only find one song but check out the audience participation at the end....sounds amazing:

Not sure if "live in a studio" counts as a gig, but KEXP have some good performances. Eg.

Enjoy 😀

I love both bands but John Peel's accidentally set Chino to play at 33 when he should be at 44.

Chino's vocals can be a little erratic. Still love the Weezer cover though.

Apparently you should take something good from a failed relationship. My last GF introduced me to GusGus which was definitely a good thing. Obviously there were others, but that's a different thread...

Loving this thread. The Portishead gig especially. The recorded version has the cloud clapping along to "Roads" - so nice to hear the version without.

By the way, on certain devices those youtube links don't tell you what the video is. So this thread is a meaningless selection of images to some of us.
