All of a sudden in the last day or so I keep finding that some of my tabs in google chrome keep freezing, so that I can't scroll up and down or click on any links, and if I click onto another tab and back onto the one which has frozen it won't display the frozen tab at all, just the one which I was on before. Doesn't happen at all with some sites, occasionally with some (including the forum here) and very regularly with some - ironically about the worst is gmail!

I thought at first it was my computer, but it seems just to be Chrome - can use gmail just fine in Firefox. Has anybody else experienced this, or is it a known problem with some recent update?

I do have a lot of tabs open, but actually less than I normally do at the moment.

Not stuff like gmail but about once per day certain sites visited result in the whole PC hanging for about 30 seconds. P'haps a flash issue, annoying but no where near as bad as yours!

I stopped using Chrome as it's tying to gather to much info before it lets you do what you want to do, plus have you bothered to read their agreement terms? 😯 I have switched back to Firefox, much nicer IMO.

Cheers.

Thanks for the hint which I think has sorted it, allthepies. I have a Flashdanceer extension running - your comment made me wonder if it was an issue with that. It turned out not to be, but turning off a tab manager extension I was also using seems to have fixed it (good timing in a way, as I'd decided I wasn't all that impressed with the tab manager and planning to look for something different with similar functionality).

I had a look at the terms:
"You do not need to provide any personally identifiable information in order to use Chrome."
couldn't see anything else which bothered me - what am I missing?

That it's just a data gatherer for Google, who obviously aim to rule the whole of the internet, but if that doesn't bother you then fine, you carry on.
Google is the number one search site apparently, but if your not interested in shopping then I doubt it's your number one, right?
