Katie Hopkins has finally been culled by twitter. I’m sure she’ll find a voice somewhere but it’s a start.

Good to know Twitter will be marginally less of a toxic pit of unpleasantness now anyway, still not going on there though.

Not as entertaining as the ensuing, assumedly televised, meltdown rant/speech if they shut him down. Don't think I would ever get tired of watching that.

Sounds more like calling her a racist without calling her a racist. Would she have a case for defamation (or equivalent) if they did? ‘I’m not a racist, as I don’t believe the stuff I write, it’s just for lolz’ type argument.

I don't know what the "Edinburgh defence" is, but I seem to recall some US 'Shock Jocks' have claimed to be performance artists in the past for various legal reasons.
To be honest I think it's a fair title for Hopkins, her public persona is an act to gain the maximum amount of attention. A decent amount of her online followers do so to ridicule her.
She's no more 'real' than Piers Morgan, Jeremy Clarkson or to a lessor extend Yaxley-Lennon.
To me that means something slightly different.
Take the definition of actor to mean "someone who does something", i.e. "act now" doesn't mean ham it up, it means do something. From the OED a participant in an action or process.
"employers are key actors within industrial relations".
And "identity-based hate" covers any sort of racism, homophobia, xenophobia, islamaphobia, anti-semitism and others. It's just a broader term.
