MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
I am getting more and more confused about this, I have used the same gmail name for a while, a few years at least, but i have for the last year or so been getting emails for someone else.
Culminating in me trying to create an account on skype and being told you already have one. Which thinking i had forgotten creating i asked for a password reset. I know now the alternative user of my email is female 27 and irish. I think i have found her on facebook, sounds like i am stalking her now!
So what to do...
Speak to Google, I bet they'd be very interested that this has happened!
surely you just need to change your password and then nobody can get into it again.
rs, no one is getting into my inbox, more i am getting emails that aren't meant for me, it might be no more than the other person whose name is very similar to mine has mis-entered their email address a couple of times or it could be something else, i really don't know.
I've just tried again sending to my address without the dot - straight through.
Gmail ignores "dots" so joe.bloggs is the same as joebloggs and j.o.e.bloggs etc etc Handy for giving out the same virtual email address to multiple places so you can identify who leaks addresses to spam lists!
Your multiple receipt thing is almost certainly someone entering the wrong email address. Seen it happen a few times before.
That was my understanding of it - the error was that Google were for a while registering joe.bloggs to one user and joebloggs to another, leading to great confusion.
yeah, she's prob giving out the wrong email address to people - hers is prob very similar
best bet is to sit outside her house in the bushes for a few nights, just to make sure like 😳
was it on here that someone said, as well as google ignoring dots you can put yourname followed by a plus sign and then any text before the @ (eg scaredypantaloons+stw@gmail). Google will ignore it but leave it in, so you can see who's selling on your details
I did actually get email meant for someone else. My email was not on the to or cc and it was things like facebook passwords. When I got in touch with the owner of the other address she was very tech savvy and convinced me that she was not forwarding mail. After our conversation she stopped using her account. There is no way to raise this issue with Google unless you have a premier account or you work with them.
So mrmo I believe you, I got my account sorted but not by the usual channels. You could try Google apps premier free 30 day trial and raise a support call on day 1.
