At long last the headlining acts have been announced, and to be honest I am underwhelmed to say the least.
I just look at what's on offer, and I just feel mheh.
Everyone is struggling to get acts this year, I thought Glastonbury would be the exception to this, apparently not.
Weakest lineup I have seen from them in a long time.
They need an ‘obscene extreme’ stage:
I’ll see your “meh”, and raise you a “oh hell no!” Coldplay alone would write the event off for me. But then they’ve managed to go out on a limb to sprinkle absolute rubbish throughout.
I’ve missed one Glastonbury in the last 10 years. Missed out on tickets in this years sale and will be going for them in the limited resale.
but must admit, for the first year ever, having seen the line up, won’t actually be that bothered if I don’t get them.
and that’s as someone who’s been over 15 times and loves the festival ( or at least loves what it use to be).
I haven’t had any desire to go to Glastonbury for probably twenty years. There’s been plenty of acts I’d like to see, but I just can’t deal with how far away from each other the various stages are, and how far you have to walk.
The only festivals I’ve been interested in are the two I’ve been to over the last six or seven years, which are Greenman and End Of The Road, plus Isle of Wight once, because it had a particularly good lineup one year, their anniversary year.
Greenman has a very good lineup this year, not sure if I’m really interested, but I might make the effort. It’s certainly better than Glastonbury, cheaper and easier to get around, ‘cos it’s only got two main stages.
aside from the 'novelty' of seeing the headliners, and of course when you get there and feel the buzz no doubt they will be great, but I don't really feel inspired for standing in a field with 60,000 other people watching people on a giant screen because they're too small to see with the naked eye.
Would I still love to go to Glastonbury (again) - sure. And there'll be dozens of bands and artists I'd like to see, and would absolutely rather see than Coldplay, Rejecting because the headliners are poor - I get, but I don't agree.
Just reviewed the line-up and there's immediately 18 I'd individually pay money to go and see on the undercard. Some would be £30+ tickets (so breaking last year's rule of no more than £20 a ticket, which has also stuck this year so far) and some I've seen for little more than a tenner. But I'd probably rather pay directly, and support them and a local indie venue, that need our help more than ever.
I think we’ve got to the stage where Glasto needs the big artists more than the artists need Glasto.
What’s in it for them when they can sell out their own world tours in minutes.
I’m going, and I was initially disappointed at the line-up but it still had enough artists that I like to make it a good event. Over the last few days I’ve been playing some stuff by the artists I didn’t know so well and I am converted - there’s some really good stuff to look forward to - SZA, Michael Kiwanuka, The Last Dinner Party immediately stood out for me.
