Yeh was as bad as I remember it 🤣 We'll be watching the series.

Sabre is from Dundee apparently so near by and as you say Kerry from Scotland too 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Good fun and the kids loved it. Gladiators lives for another generation.

My wife was a bit too enthusiastic about Giant I feel.

It was quite nostalgic and fun! Clearly a skip load of steroids running through all the male gladiators though!!

The dodgy naming is still going on! Guess what colour Phantom and Nitro (N**ro) are?

We need new characters like Vanilla or Snow for sake of balance

Well that was good fun. Loved the bit where Giant thunked that guy on the head with a "Pootle" stick. Bang-Bang and gone.

Much more of a mis-match than it was back in the day.

Those blokes are huge.

I bet the tabloids will have loads of "I was told to take steroids to keep my job" stories in a couple of years.

I think the gladiators need some Hang Tough training. They looked very awkward - can you remember when Lighting used to smoothly traverse the rings with maximum grace before taking ‘em down? I don’t she ever lost that game?

She did however call her son "Lexus", so she must have landed on her head a few times in training.

They got the Gladiators roles because they were ready huge, not the other way around. I’m fairly sure 99% of bodybuilders know exactly what they’re doing and why.

Not going to stop them selling an embellished story after they are finished from the show.

To all the Jet fans (me included) it would appear, via Wikipedia, she's now more interested in the ladies, than the laddies, married Zoe Gilbert in 2023.

What the hell are you talking about? A phantom is another name for a ghost - traditionally er white. I'm not going to comment on the second part of your post as I think that might be saying more about you than any naming.

We manufactured the large white traverse net on the final course. Didn't take them up on the free tickets to the filming. Kinda wished I had now🤔

Re: Jet

I don't want to piss on the vintage **** bank but...

It has got to be recognised as one of the worlds most drawn out struggles. The battle between those fearsome caterpillars for dominance over the forehead. One can only imagine the chaos wrought if they teamed up as an omnipotent force!

In the Copperpot household, the unkempt black pubic stripe is referred to as a brush (The Shape of Water), for it's similarity to a commercial sweeping brush. What a combination!

Not watched it but do follow Matt does fitness - aka Legend - on his youtube channel.

He's a bit OTT at times but spent quite a lot of time and money proving he's natural and not on steroids.

Worth a watch if anybody is interested in that sort of thing.

Might give the new show a quick watch too, as the general feedback seems to be positive.

The "documentary" on netflix about the beginnings of American Gladiators is fairly entertaining, probably a bit over egged to make it more so. But clear lack of H&S and lots of drugs!

Anyway, watched with my 7yr old. She loved it, it was pretty good fun. My favourite was the new Wolf, Viper. He was rubbish at the events he was in!! 🤣

So who's the new Jet ?

Sabre or Diamond ?

Sabre for me..... not least because back in the days of the one and only Jet, I was playing American football for the Southend Sabres (Double national youth champions, no less !!)

I can't decide whether I loved it or thought it was far too cringe, the kids enjoyed it though, and had to bite my tongue when sabre was trying to pull Kerry off the rings, what I wouldn't have given to swap places, and strength to weight ratio, and MTB skills.

I think a lot of adult viewers would have been trying not to laugh at the frantic scissoring going on there.

Really enjoyed the show generally. Seemed the smaller, quicker contestants did best - but the male winner seemed a bit of a bellend eh?

Don't think I've ever wanted to strangle Bradley Walsh and his weird 80s TV presenter faced spawn.

At that point my missus said something like "I don't think women with muscles like that are particularly attractive".

Me and my 16 year old son said nothing.

Finally managed to watch it with the kids. They seem engaged and want to watch it so it may become a Saturday night staple.

I'm not too sure about the new games though. The one where the Gladiators attempt to knock the contenders off the bridge using their crotches and bums while the contender tries to keep hold of their ball seemed a bit weird.

I also didn't understand the power button game. It seems like once the gladiators get the contender down they have to release them at which point they just jump up and hit the button. It would make more sense if they had to go back outside the circle once they'd been brought down.

Apart from that the gladiators seem decent. I reckon Viper needs a bigger repertoire than just mean mugging and not being very good at the games. Legend could end up being the new Wolf. My kids are definitely booing him already.

Sabre doing a decent job of asking the age old question, is it possible to be attractive whilst being from Dundee?

I reckon it had a decent start but it'll get better once it figures itself out.

Oh, I also loved the 'facts' in the Gladiators stats.

'Diamond can deadlift 200kg which is more than a baby elephant!'

‘Diamond can deadlift 200kg which is more than a baby elephant!’

I loved that too!

One of them was something like “gladiator 1 can run as fast as a car travelling at 25.6mph”.

I pointed out to Mrs ColP that could be shortened to “gladiator 1 can run at 25.6mph”

Isn't the obvious question "how much can a baby elephant deadlift?".

Or as I tell my kids, 'Nitro can run as fast as me if I was running at 25.6mph!'

No follow up questions allowed.
