When we send our troops abroad do half of them end up being poorly. Generally they're not packed off to places with good hygiene. Are they given some sort of super medicine or do they just get on with it?
If we go on holiday to a country where you can't drink the tap water I end up cuddling the toilet for 3 days.
Just wondered really.

Full fat coke seems to do a good job of killing most ingested bugs.

you dont get given anything special.

you get used to it. there is alot you can do from your side to minimise risk as well.

You also get used to things like brushing your teeth with bottled water , not eating salads , making sure your food is HOT and no ice in drinks. Its totally second nature now.

flip side is your stomach does get more resilliant from exposure and this means i can drink water from scottish streams without caring 😉

Ive only ended up seriously ill once giardia - from a tap in abel tasman nZ - i wrongly assumed the tap was drinking water. and ive seen a mate end up with typhoid from eating a carbonara with a raw egg in a restaurant in Equatorial Guinea.

- im not in the army but go to unsavoury places - west africa/middle east/FSU states/far east with work and am far from living in hotels 😉
