Well a fun night out in Liverpool, best way to sip any hassle with the clocks changing is to party on through it 🙂
I do like the mix at some of these events, means you end up seeing people you wouldn't normally get to see
Slowthai was one of those, not sure the folks trying to do the photo's and camera work appreciated him doing the set from the middle of the audience but fair play trying to get a bunch of middle ages 6 music fans into it

Little Simz
Awesome and bold, owned it from the first track and great set

Jon Hopkins - what a wall of sound, with a stunning visual show to go with it, only downside was it was too early in the night to really get stuck into it!!

Best bit of all of these was despite the BBC being on hand to film and broadcast it all they were still filming it on their phones
https://www.bbc.co.uk/events/e92mzc/play/p074vv8b/p075284r
The guy on the camera boom was getting just behind them and filming them 🙂 🙂
Then a quick hop over to the Invisible Wind Factory for a very funky evening, the Renegade Brass Band would have been worth it on their own!! Such a happy fun sound putting everyone in a top mood then one hell of a party with Craig Charles, not seen anyone sing along to just about everything they played!!
Idles at the Albert Hall in Manchester last night. It was a really, really excellent gig, better than the Ritz last year.
The Albert hall is a pretty nice venue, a good size and the opening tune Colossus really built the atmosphere. From where we were, we could really see the crowd getting amped up.
Plenty of antics like heading out into the crowd, climbing up onto the balcony and getting people up on stage, always entertaining. And, even if you think it's a bit childish, there's something satisfying about being in a room with 2000+ people all shouting "mother f***er" in unison.
Teleman at Gorilla next.
For anyone interested in some Australian pub punk, Amyl and the sniffers are playing Deaf institute this weekend, I want to go but can't make it.

well jel...... love them. really wish my missus liked them so i could have the excuse to go see them a lot more. europe road trip anyone?
Think I've only seen one so far this year - Sharon van Etten at the Albert Hall Manchester a couple of weeks ago.
Not got much booked yet, managed one every couple of weeks last year:
suede with BC Camplight supporting again at the Albert Hall. The gig there on the Night Thoughts tour was brilliant and saw both free shows they played in September at the Brudenell.
My daughter wants me to take her to see Honey Blood but trying to find somewhere reasonably local that she's allowed in at 12 is proving difficult.
We're both going to Bluedot, really looking forward to that.
Monday 22nd! Milo! So chuffed he's coming back to Brighton - last time he was support and started at 7:30, I got there at 7:50. Was really pissed off and couldn't enjoy the gig.
But he's back and I love im
Followed by Apparat on the Friday. What a week.
And Fat White Family the week after in a new venue for me: The 1865 in Southampton. Innerestin.
Got very excited to see the pixies are touring, and tickets went on sale today.
Then I saw how much they're charging.
£45!!! I'm out.
Haha! £45! I'll have to dig out one of my old tickets, see how much they were back when they were good 😆
Will admit I baulked slightly at £45, but it'll be a cracking night out if the last one is anything to go by so I coughed up.
It's not like they only play for 45 minutes or anything...
I think this was the 2nd or 3rd time... £7.50 more like it eh

PWEI and Neds tomorrow night at Shepherds Bush.
Can't wait.

Twenty years ago! I think you’ll find a lot of things have got more expensive since then.
Except CD’s oddly enough.
Jauz at Newcastle 02 Academy last month, very Drum and Bass stuff. Seadog the Younger dragged me along. Heaps of fun (I was the oldest person there who was not a staff member).
Nothing in the pipeline, waiting to see who's lining up at festivals I'll be able to get to.
Off to see Piroshka at Rough Trade Bristol tonight! Good to see Miki hasn’t given up making music after Lush called it a day. 😁
Piroshka were really bloody good! Very hot and sweaty, though they did turn on the a/c two songs from the end! Six people on a tiny stage, and very up close and personal.
I have to give special mention to Justin Welch, the drummer, who was in Elastica, and who is a superb drummer! Like human metronome, but with enough going on to be interesting without showing off.
Next week, Sleeper, as the 90’s revival continues! 😁
We have tickets to see Tim Minchin later this year. Saw Scott Bradlee last month (so shoot me!). We wanted to see the Shires but not at £300 a ticket as support in a huge arena. I'm sure we will fit in another Frank Turner gig somewhere in Europe (Eulogy in German was good in Vienna last year).
Pigs x7 last night at Esquires in Bedford. I enjoyed it and they didn’t disappoint. Thought the sound system was a bit bright and the drums sounded a bit washed out so i’m looking forward to watching them again in my home town at the Craufurd arms as I reckon they might sound bang on there.
Support band, Blom were a frightful racket though.
currently trying to sort logistics out to go across the channel to see idles again in rouen, bank holiday weekend. can get there easy enough, the ferrys booked up for the return tho.
would also like to see pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs but think theyd probably be a bit 'samey' after a few songs. could be wrong tho.
Seems a bit odd, but Tame Impala have just announced they're playing the Empress ballroom in Blackpool in June.
I mean, I've seen a lot of bands there, done pretty big acts, but this seems an unlikely announcement somehow!
Anyway, might as well get tickets as it's on my doorstep 👍
You'll probably get a 2 for 1 with Pond supporting as most of the band are the same, and also playing Glastonbury.
PWEI and Neds tomorrow night at Shepherds Bush.
Can’t wait.
It were bostin!
As was Miles Hunt.

Well Tame Impala at the Empress has just set me back £46!! I feel violated..... But on the other hand I don't have to factor in a £20 train ticket to Manchester so in that respect, it's not so bad 🤔
Hey? Tame Impala aren’t even an old band! Still, this is why prices will keep going up, cos folk pay it...
Saw some unusual stuff last night in London - Chaines: one woman, voice flute, guitar, effects pedals. Surprisingly excellent. Followed by a string quartet! yes.. semi-classical, semi-contemporary, very good... then they were joined onstage by Vessel. Who electronicyfied them and made some visuals. That was great. Stirring stuff.
Vessel is supporting These New Puritans next Thurs, so it’ll be interesting to see what he does on a much smaller stage.

Good the Bad and the Queen, top night uplifting, melancholy, fun and sad all at the same time.
Sleeper last weekend were on top form, and worked the set out well, a couple of old tracks, then a new one, couple of old ones, then a new one, kept the balance and interest up through the set.
Early start, though; 6.30 doors, we got there just after they opened, got places right on the crowd barrier, first band came on fifteen minutes later! They were really good, called Thyla, from Brighton, clear influences from Cocteau Twins, MBV, Blondie. Radio One seem to be pushing them, which is a bit of a surprise, somehow.
Then Supernaturals came on, then Sleeper.
Great evening was had by all, it seems.
Just back from These New Puritans. Very good. Atmospheric and lots of booming drums. Enjoyed it more than I expected as found the album a little samey.
Monday, same venue is one I’m looking forward to muchly.
Molly, singer/guitarist with Thyla - blue LED lighting does weird things to photos...

Louise Wenner - Sleeper

Woo. Just managed to pick up a couple of tickets to see Dave tomorrow night at the O2 in Brizzle. His new album, Psychodrama, is awesome.
I really like the Dave album.
Off to see Jawbreaker in Manc on Sunday, and I'm determined to make this one. Beach Slang supporting apparently, which is doubly exciting.
A bit of Dead can Dance next week. Hurrah.
If they play this I will be very happy.
Milo and Elucid on Mon was amazing. Especially when they did the Nostrum Grocers stuff at the end.
It was bloody empty too, I guess cos of Easter Monday and students all having their eggs. Loved it.
Here, you ever had that moment when a rapper goes to shake your hand and you miss? just got the end of his fingers... Urgh 😆
Apparat tonight 😀
I'm a little bit jealous about the Apparat !
I shall report back.
No photos though, so you'll just have to take my word for it 😉
Well...
Dave at the Bristol Academy was ****ing awesome. I really need to swap to O2 for my phone - or just get a PAYG sim to stick in to get in the O2 priority queue - the queues there are horrendous these days with airport style security checks before going in. I think most of the people in the queue around me were wondering where my son or daughter was. 😂
I took a position on the balcony. The crowd was quite feisty. But it was good fun watching them all properly going for it. Don’t know if anyone else has noticed this at gigs recently. You get one guy/gal clearing a circle in the crowd while filming everyone around. They all get themselves quite psyched up, then all crash into one another closing the circle. It was most entertaining watching it from above. I popped downstairs for the last few tracks to get a bit more of the atmosphere.
Santan Dave is certainly a talented MC for his tender years - he’s only going on 21. Sometimes funny, sometimes satirical, sometimes political, he really has a handle on his craft. No other MCs joining in. Just him and a good background AV show. His mixing desk is off to the side.
It was a doddle to get to the bar to pay £11.50 for a 2 pint pot of shitty lager - most of the crowd didn’t have I.d. I reckon. 😀
Anyway, anyone into a bit of grime or wondering how it all sounds live - I’d definitely recommend catching him live.
Sounds great DD 🙂
Much..erm cleaner sounds for me last night! Brighton Attenborough Arts Centre in the middle of the Uni campus, was a really lovely venue. Great sized (small) hall and superb sound. (Even Sascha Ring said it was "a bit intimidating" to even talk the sound was so good!) Shame they don't have more gigs there.
Karyyn, the support was a pleasant surprise - a bit Bjork, a bit FKA Twigs, creating a big electronic sound and an amazing voice live.
Apparat, were, just as you'd imagine, full of emotion, live guitars, violin, cello, bass, trombone!, with the electronics thrown in and Sascha's crystal voice. Even more blown away than I expected. Gig of the year so far.
My next gig is now going to be Big Thief at Bristol SXW next month. Really looking forward to it, I saw them at Greenman 2016, and met Adrianne afterwards at Rough Trade’s tent when she did a solo set. Should be a good gig.
Went to see Half Man Half Biscuit last night at The Boiler Shop, Newcastle - fantastic! Great space, good acoustics, packed but with a friendly atmosphere. They're quite accomplished these days and played some of the classics from their back catalogue ("All I Want For Christmas is a Dukla Prague Away Kit", "Joy Division Oven Gloves", "We Built This Village on a Trad. Arr. Tune", "Trumpton Riots") alongside the best from their new album. "Hey Joe" for the encore was a pleasant surprise. All in all a quality evening!
Mr Ben and the Bens / Family Selection Box last night with “Rob” from this forum wearing a Gnarpoon shirt also in attendance at Delicious Clam in Sheffield.
Teleman at Gorillan in Manchester tonight, just back.
Two bangers.
Next up, Wedding Present in Chester on Friday.
Also just back from Teleman at Gorilla. Bloody love them, feel they are criminally underrated.
Oh, my. This sweaty bastard has just returned from seeing Fat White Family. Down the front just out of reach of the mosh pit... they were incredible. What a band. This was the 3rd time I’ve seen them and they’ve just got better. Actually got goosebumps a few times, especially when the guitar and sax were combining.
Gig of the year! 😊
Wildhearts Friday. Can't wait
Saturday for me, hope the new album's arrived before. God I love that band, total disasters that they are
Desertfest this weekend - YAY!
Fu Manchu headlining Sunday - quite excited!!
Loyle Carner for me tomorrow night, then LANCO 🤠 on Monday. I have purchased a denim shirt specially for the second one. Double denim here I come. 😀
Just on way home from seeing Loyle Carner. Fantastic! Really good set - no backing track. That lad knows what he’s doing.
