Anyone got a mobile phone on Giff Gaff? Thinking of moving from 02 on a sim - only deal as it's a lot cheaper. Can claim back calls from present employer, but do you get a receipt of any kind from Giff Gaff when you top up?

I remember this was discussed on the GG forums a while back, I can't recall the outcome though, nor remember what statements I got.

I think you get a receipt when you top up, but not an itemised bill.

Check their site, look/ask in the forums - normally get a quick response.

You can get a VAT receipt on request - fgaff.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/234/kw/vat%20receipts

No itemised calls though, so unless you can just claim for a £10 goodybag each month you won't have any way of showing what was for work.

Anybody had any problems with Giff Gaff? Heard rumours of network dropping out? Peopl having trouble transferring their number?

Nope, my g/f and I have been on it for over a year now (probably longer) & are very happy with it. As it's O2 but without customer service, whatever "service" (coverage/issues) you got from 02, expect to get with GiffGaff.

I had dealings with giff gaff - wish I hadn't bother to be honest. The customer service is a joke - i've been trying to get a resolution to a problem since early Jan and am getting no where. I know lots of peeps have had no problems at all and love what they offer - but, for me, I want a service with someone on the end of a phone for when things go wrong. And I'll happily pay a few quid extra for that.

You should ring o2 and say you're leaving - they offered me 300 mins, unlimited texts & 500mb of data for 11.50 a month. Plus I get tethering and 5 quid off my broadband. So it worked out cheaper than gift gaff in the end.

I'm on giffgaff. Its very cheap. You do get cofirmation by email when you top up or buy a goodybag.

Only problem is when something goes wrong. There is nobody to call for help. There is a forum (called the community) where you can ask for help and other giffgaff members can try and answer your queries. Sometimes helpful, sometimes not.

The more you post on the forum, the more points you earn which eventually turns to money which you can use to top up your phone.

I've had a few problems which eventually got resolved.

Recently switched to them and very pleased so far.
Number transferred in one day no problem.
You get a monthly email with review of the months activity and if you're on the right bundle, they recommended that I drop down to a cheaper one which has saved me even more.
Thumbs up from me.

Are there a lot of big hitters over there?

Tenner a month for the goodybag and never anywhere close to using the total allowance as calls to other giff gaff numbers are free and the main person I call is the Mrs. We've went from £70 a month on mobile phone contracts to £20 for the household. No problems with service or porting numbers. Managed to persuade a few friends to change over.
