Getting AppleTV on my TV

I have an AppleTV sub.
I have a TV that I have in the past played YouTube vids from my phone on.
But.
AppleTV won’t cast in that way.
And I can’t find the Apple TV app in either my TV’s App Store or in my Virgin Media’s App Store.
Am I missing something obvious or are we in to buying nee things territory?

I’m not sure a Chromecast will work unless they’ve added AirPlay to them these days?
