We will be in touch
I've got a few days in Geneva coming up.
I realise it won't be the best weather so does anyone got any recommendations of places to go, things to see, eating drinking, clubs etc.
cheers
There's a big fountain, and a mcdonalds but i'm sure there's other stuff too.
The old town is quite picturesque, but not particularly large and won't take long to wander round. The lake and fountain (jet d'eau) are worth a boat trip, but if the weather's bad then that might not be so good.
If you like steak, the Relais de l'entrecote on the south side of the Lake is nice and reasonable value. I haven't been over for a few years now, so hopefully some locals will be able to provide a bit more info.
I stayed in the ETAP just outside town, but ate at a nice local pizzeria in the old-town area. Not much help i know, but it was 8yrs ago!
Robertos is a good Italian if your looking for somewhere to eat. I'd also recommend Brasserie Lipp.
Oh and cuckoo clocks are German.
Spent a couple of nights in Geneva a few years back as a stop over before a snowboarding trip. All I can really remember from those times is a couple of random things - had such a great time.
- The hostel is really nice, walking distance from the station
- I got really really drunk and met some americans who actually said 'these are the days of our lives'
- Met some random dutch guy who'd split up with his missus, challenged him to a darts match, he managed to stick a dart in a girls back by accident, almost a nasty incident
- In the clubs I had to ask for my vodka redbull to be watered down
- Clocks in Denmark make the sound 'tic tac'
- Learned the word hunterloopin
All in all a top place to go out drinking. The bar opposite the main station is a great place to start....
DT87 I've also played darts in Geneva. Travelled all over the world and I think Geneva is the only place where I've walked into a bar and seen darts being played outside of the UK.
could go to cathedral in old town to climb tower, or go in the crypt to have a look at the first church, i would suggest a boat trip, and a walk along the lake shore to the UN and a tram back.
Ah yes I've just remembered we went up the catherdral tower to take photos of the city, we also did the geneva motor show at the airport (audi girls grrr) the UN building was a bit of a way out so we never made it there.
One of my best holidays ever - must go back!
