Can this be 80s power-rock thread now?

One of my faves, classic 80s video.

I suspect that the reaction will be to go even more right wing & Foxnewsy

It has to, surely. There's no reason for it to exist otherwise.

It's The Problem With A Brexit Deal all over again, that was too brexity for some and not brexity enough for others. There is no Baby Bear's Porridge to be had here.

I could go out with Pat Benatar, but I'd be thinking of Joan Jett.

LOL! He can take the knee outside the office, on the road, near tube station, on the high street etc ... but no, he just had to do it on the channel to show how much he cares. Does this bloke has a brain? LOL! How on earth do this sort of people get to the top to earn so much?

Oh the ironing. Stop now my sides hurt.

I was going to post something about Poe's law, but it seems kind of redundant

So who's paying for it to keep going?

Advertisers must be scarce

I have to admit, I would be genuinely joyous if the channel went under.

It would honestly cheer me up no end. I suspect I won't get my wish for sometime though, if ever but I hope I'm wrong.

After todays stressful tribulations of trying to find my electrician I needed a bit of a pick me up, and this news did just the trick.

"I have to admit, I would be genuinely joyous if the channel went under."

So would Andrew Kneel and Alistair Stewart, they're praying that it goes under before they have to stick to their word and return to the channel.

Is that the most tenuous Red Dwarf quote ever?

Is he going to pull people’s arms out of their sockets if he loses?

Anti-Wokies tend to do that when they lose.

Yes, as I said a few days ago

When Farage flounces out, who will be left at the bottom of the barrel? Starkey? , Yaxley -lenon?

I suspect that the reaction will be to go even more right wing & Foxnewsy

With farage on every night he’ll be on nearly as much as he is on BBC question time.

F me; who is more desperate, farage or gb news?
GB news have been dead in the water from day 1; farage is nothing more than a side show.

I reckon they had this ready to go from the beginning. They knew they would get it wrong at some point, so had the big guns in reserve to bring them all back.

More likely Farage wanted too much but now they need a big anchor so this is a last ditch attempt to stay viable.

Thing is, Farage won't stick it- he lost interest in every actual job he's had in politics, he likes the rancour but he doesn't like actually turning up. Let alone 4 days a week, the very idea. He'd have loved it if he'd made it to be PM since it turns out you can just treat it like gardening and do a few hours a week when the weather's nice. But this is too much like work.

Tomhoward,

The rumours that Piers Morgan might be joining the channel are cropping up again. Andrew Neil and Alistair Stewart are past their shelf life, they're old and doddery, a line up of Farage and Morgan would be a different proposition, though as I understand it money has been a quibbling point in negotiations back in the spring. Given the circumstances, I think their initial demands will look like a bargain.

We might see how deep the pockets of all the foreign, non British backers of the station are.

The mistake GB News made was in forgetting that Fox News took about three decades to bring America to it's knees. When Fox News started out it had a lot more news content and gradually increased the opinion side of things over the years, a bit like putting a frog in cold water and turning the temperature up gradually.

GB News dropped the frog straight into boiling waters. My guess is that they will realise this mistake and introduce more straight news programming along with a Piers Morgan breakfast type of show (with or without himself) covering more light hearted fare mixed in with a bit of bile as per the style of GMB.

It's going to cost them exponentially more money, up till now the production values have been shamed by YouTube reaction channels run by 14 year olds and owing to the channels toxicity with regards looking for employment after the whole thing comes crashing down (or your soul has been destroyed), I bet everyone from the tea lady (person) to technicians will be charging a premium. I pity the cleaners too, imagine the filth they have to clean up at the end of the day, I hope they're charging extra too.

The people that could do (and were arguing for) that sort of "straight" programming are leaving. It looks like there's a fight behind the scene for control My money is on More not Less hard line. Farage is Bannon's 'go to' man in Europe, and probably brings with him a bunch of money and supporters.

I think many people underestimate the attraction and normalisation of bile-wars.

If youtube is anything to go by then the appetitite is for the frog (dead, alive or ressurected) should simply be torn asunder over and over forget the water.

Is the totally unforeseen GBnews perma-gig to be Fauxrage’s tinfoil staircase to being shoehorned in as prime-monster of Brexitannia PM?

You lefties scoffed at Trump and Bozo remember…

GB News swapping presenters is the modern version of throwing various types of shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.

The problem is: it's still shit.

FTFY

Shit sticks. Brass from muck is a business model.

It’s a box ticking exercise in saving Normal Proper Brits from ‘enemies’

Foreigners? Done
Immigrants? Done
EU membership? Done
Chinese ‘flu’ Done

Now what?

Oh yeah….

GB News viewers boycott channel over free speech

Is there actually a term for the moment when the universe ends in a 'nothing can escape the gravitational pull of the black irony hole' moment?

As David Coleman used to say:

"Quite remarkable".

The problem is it is still shit that resides between the ears of too large a proportion of the UK's electorate.

Oh go on, you know you want too really…Gird your loins and go for it, see if you can beat my current record of about 2mins before I cave in and change channel.

Ha! Satan will host the Winter Olympics before I would ever watch a second of that sort of dreck. It was bad enough that my late partner would watch early morning telly, often with Piers Morgan, which led to a continuous muttering from me about what a reprehensible little turd the man is!
