What size one should I get? Was doing a map upgrade yesterday and it says not enough memory and recommends getting a SD card. Need all of Europe, which is in there already.
Please write answers in simple english as I am a technical oaf, thanks.
There will be a max that the Garmin can handle, depending on it's age. I have an old Garmin that can only take up to 1Gb cards, I think.
If you have a newer one, it can probably take anything up to 32Gb.
Given how cheap they are, I'd just get something that will be massive overkill, but will definitely fit it all on. I suspect 8Gb would be more than plenty for Europe mapping, but just get a 16Gb to be sure. Well, that's what I'd do.
Just check the max permitted storage capacity for your device before buying.
Mymemory is a good place to get mem cards from.
I've been using SanDisk Ultra 16Gb Class 10 in my Edge 800 and now my Edge 810.
I find Moby Memory is a bit cheaper than Mymemory. http://www.mobymemory.co.uk/21478-16gb-capa
Many thanks Stump and Dibbs appreciate it.
Edge or a car navigator? What sort of mapping?
Pretty sure that all of europe on 'city navigator' comes in at under 1.9gb though of course that's probably more than there is on a 2GB card after formatting.
Eh what??? please dont't confuse me.
Imagine I am playing the part of Mel Smith in the NTNON gramaphone sketch 😳
The question was "What model of Garmin Satnav are you trying to do this to?"
As above - buy a big one, it shouldn't be a problem and is more use for other things in future.
