For the last three days it hasn't been able to locate satellites. I've reset it and updated it and reinstalled the software but still it can't locate them. Any ideas?
Cheers.
Put it out in the open with no obstructions around. When mine is slow, I put it on the car roof and leave it be. Sometime, even the smallest amount of movement causes it to have the think longer when acquiring satellites.
as above - you may need to leave it a few hours
Thanks will try that, fingers crossed!
Two and a half hours and still locating.... Outside on shed roof.
Funny, mine's been having problems recently too - taking far longer to find a fix where previously it'd take a few minutes. I don't know that it's the firmware, as I've had the latest version installed for a couple of months.
I had the same problem with my Garmin 205 and I solved it by completely draining the batteries. This means continually switching it back on when it switches off. Once you have done this fully charge it and you should be OK.
Cheers, will try the battery trick!
Well none of those worked, even the master reset and reinstall of software didn't work, but as part of the software update there is a chipset (type G) update option. So, I checked that and at the 7th time of trying it updated and hey presto satellites less than a minute later.
What model of forerunner do you have? I might check out the software jobby when I have my laptop back.
205.
