In the next week or 2 I ma hoping to be laying a deck in my back garden.

The intended site is not level so I'm wondering whether to level up the 'site' with spare slabs / soil or would it be easier just to mount the frame on posts in concrete so its semi-suspended (highest point will in theory be on the ground and other bits suspended).

Or I can build up little 'Pillars' using leftover slabs / bricks where I would put my wooden posts and mount the frame on that.

Its only a small deck (3m x 3m) so thinking that digging 9 holes and filling with concrete to create a suspended deck will be easier than trying to level off the soil... however the weight of the decking may mean that the accuracy of the base may not be hugely important, as long as its 'generally' level corner to corner that should be fine.

Any thoughts? The site is on a slight slope and is currently uneven / full of holes.

Suspend it - set the posts on slabs with a bit of a concrete foundation. If I were doing it I'd want to keep the whole thing off the ground if poss - it'll last much longer that way.

Its for selling the house so cost, speed and ease of assembly are my main criteria.

I think Setting it on Slabs on concrete like you say will be easiest and cheapest.

Brick piers in the corners (or slabs where it's higher), dig holes and suspend posts in the middle, stick steel post locators on the end and cement those in. No wood in the ground.

I done that a few years ago and I built the frame with the posts screwed in. Then dug corresponding holes to match the posts and offered up the frame and levelled it. Then i filled the holes with a dry mix of sand and cement and added water. Then a couple of days later I screwed on the decking boards.

there is a new product called postcrete which i got from wickes. dig hole, put post in (check plumb), fill to 1/3 level with water, pour in postcrete blackmagic powder. DO NOT mix, sit back and in five to ten minutes your post is fixed!
incredibly easy, depends on number of and size of holes as to cost and number of bags required but i like it.
