I have a garage, I have solar regulator, I have a battery, I will shortly have a suitable solar panel.

What I do not have is lights. I was thinking some panels for general lighting and some spots over the workbench.

any recommendations for what to buy? or more importantly what not to buy?

I just bought these. DC versions are available. Shockingly bright compared to bulbs. Really soft, even light with barely any shadows. Not sure what the actual power requirements are in numbers.

Not used alone but I found the eBay LED strips quite decent for lighting shadowed areas. (shelves, under bench etc.)

I still need to think of panels etc. as I'm just using some bulb-like 4W LED's in the interim - easily knocked and not ideal so interested to see what others say.

i saw those on your thread the other day and had something like that in mind. drawing a blank so far on a low voltage version.

Panels will be better than spots over the bench. Or use the LED tape. Its usually 12v. You need to work out your power use and battery capacity, also be realistic about solar charging over the winter. I think you'll want pretty low power lights. I used to run some lights from a car battery and it'd only last a week or so of average use without changing.

I bought some lights like these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-10W-LED-Floodlight-Low-Voltage-Garden-Security-Light-Mini-Lamp-IP65-Cool-US/123975288982?hash=item1cdd80c896:m:mdPjHsryXGSZbP9ZHYn98vA

They give plenty of light over my workbench, and enough for the rest of the garage. I have 3 of them, and didn't want to add any more to keep power consumption down.

They look good but like they’d be quite spotty. Cheap enough to buy a few and try them I guess.

They're not so bad, but I bought them to illuminate my workbench, and not to fully illuminate the entire garage.
