Just got a galaxy S4 but there is a strange icon which appears to be some sort of menu button. It appears over the top of whatever screen I'm in and I can't get rid of it. I can move it anywhere on the screen but not off it altogether. Anyone have any ideas?
Does it even do anything when you touch it? Press and hold on it?
Does it do the same with a sim in?
I think it's an air bubble

Are you sure? The screen protector has been put on incredibly well.
Definitely a sticker.
On a more serious note, does the 'missing icon' graphic appear if you screenshot directly from the S4 itself? Hold down the power and centre buttons together and it will screenshot itself, then look at that picture and see if it's there.
Has it been rooted previously or is it brand new like that?
Have you tried software update to make sure you're on the latest Android release?
I really don't get the screen protector thing.
I had an S2 for 2 years and it got bashed about at work and had gritty fingers stabbing at it most of the time and yet when I upgraded to an S4 I sold the S2 to a friend who commented that the screen looked like new.
The phone companies spend shed loads of money on making tough screens that display in HD and people stick(badly)a couple of pence worth of plastic film over it so it looks like the screen is smeared with grease!
As long as you don't put your phone in your pocket with keys or change regularly the screens don't need a protector. Just retired my HTC sensation after two years unprotected, not a scratch on the screen.
As for the icon, no idea, nothing like that on my new S4 active.
Only thing I can find on three seconds' Googling is there's a mode button on the camera which sounds like that. Have you tried switching it off and back on again?
+1 on the screen protector, generally an excuse for shops to sell additional tat. They make pennies on the sale of the phone and then fleece you for another £100 on cases, covers, styli, screen protectors, car chargers, insurance...
au contraire I treat screen protectors like F1 drivers use tear off visor protectors. new one every few months at a cost of a couple of quid a time. once screen is scratched there is no way back...
Yep, you won't scratch a screen with keys but owe betide you if you get a grain of sand in the same pocket as the phone.
Ok. Found the solution. It was an accessibility shortcut to the main menu functions for people with poor eyesight. It is now gone.
Screen protector was only on as I'd literally just collected phone. I can't stand 'em either!
