[Closed] Funny little lump on shin after running

Ten minutes in to jogging tonight and my leg started aching quite a bit. Right down the front of my shin. Stopped and rubbed my leg and there's a little pea sized lump there, sort of outside/side front . It seems to have started to go down since I have stopped.

Legs didn't feel good at all before this, felt tight and heavy. Any ideas?

I thought ganglions were at joints?

It seems muscle related, as when I take the weight off, it disappears.

I have a ganglion, but it appeared gradually over time and is not even slightly painful.

What do shin splints look like ??

I have a similar lump, it comes after any running or biking, I've had it for many years, never really caused me any pain or discomfort though, I've always presumed it was just a vein.

Sounds like shin splints. Can become a fracture but normally very painful over a few weeks and unmistakeable throbbing you would have to be an idiot to continue running ()

If the pain is there at the start of your run, disappears during the run then hurts afterwards its probably shin splints (generic term) if so you have to stop, it wont go away until you do unfortunately.

Ice and anti inflammatories are your friend

It's all gone now. Will take it easy on Wednesday, and see how I get on.

I was that idiot and yes they did lead to fractures, lots of them (young, arrogant para recruit, it's just a bit of pain attitude).
Fractured my legs 3 times in 18 months before being medically discharged.

Anyway, the moto is if it really hurts STOP.

One day I will do as I preach.
