I rode St Jean de Luz to Perpignan three weeks ago, only the Aubisque and Tourmalet were closed, 12/14 isn't bad.

Another fortnight and we will have the annual unveiling of this years doping scandals. I wonder who it will be this time?

The French hate Wiggo and accuse him of doping, but they love Froome - don't get it, and he's a plastic brit with a really annoying accent, which for me is a good enough reason to dislike him.

Also he seems to think he can win a 3 three week tour by grandstanding - the team tactics are going to eat him alive.

Because he rides and they've praised his 'manners' in interviews, press conferences (carried on answering questions while a SKY person was trying to get him away after his stage win).

😆

Congratulations to Froome on the win, and for helping Richie Porte to second.

More from L'Equipe:

“Chris Froome but something fresh during the week. With a new freedom of tone, a good dose of humour and straight talking without limits he’s been able to build the foundation of his image for the weeks to come, that of a “ordinary champion”…
…We’re far from the arrogance shown by Bradley Wiggins, even the head of media at Team Sky seemed a little disconcerted by the ease with which Chris Froome replied to trick questions"

Yup, it was good to watch.

Tour de Suisse is looking like there are a few upset's at the moment with some big hitters not showing good form. Apparently the conditions played agains Cancellara in the TT though.

I am looking forward to all the top guys battling in the Tour now.

Still a shame Wiggins wont be able to defend the title.

Wow. Three sentences. So much wrong in each. That takes some work.

I can't recall the French press saying Wiggins was a doper. They say that Sky last year lacked panache and flair but so did everyone other than the British, non-specialist press

Froome is clearly a better climber than Wiggins and the French press is right, he IS less arrogant than Wiggins. I don't really give a shit where a rider is from if they win with a bit of style and class and Froome has the makings of doing that if he continues as the Dauphine finished.

The French press just reported other people saying he was a doper. Described as "a rain of accusations" by Le Nouvel Obs'.

Edit: the most amusing thing was the literal translations of Wiggin's quotes; quotes with "branleurs" and "connards" aren't often seen or heard in the serious media. He came over as a potty-mouthed version of Armstrong full of bile and denial.
