I have a new fridge and sometimes it requires a lot of force to get the door to open, the whole fridge tries to fall over before the door opens! It's not really an issue but I'm interested as to why this happens. Any ideas?

You are very very weak and need to eat before you get so weak.

I fear you may have bought one of the limited edition 'iDave' models.

well when you are hungry you have less fuel to power the muscles and this makes them weak and the door harder to open... I am overdoing it now

Your confused which side actually opens??

Seriously though, when you open and shut the door it creates a vacum as the fridge works to get back to temperature. I don't know the tech behind it but it might be something to do with that

Your neighbour has drilled through the wall, and is sucking cold air out of your fridge for air conditioning.

When you open the fridge warm air replaces the cold air inside when you close the door this warm air is cooled and contracts forming a partial vacuum making it difficult to open the door.

Maybe you should adjust the feet so its got all four touching the floor 🙂

The better fridges tend to have a cam type action on the handle, when you pull the handle it levers the door off the frame so you don't have to overcome the stiction. Sorry, MTB term butting in there 🙂 Means you can open the door using just one finger on the handle.

Is the drain hole blocked, as K-sugden explains you are creating a vacuum. (my fridge can be harder to open if I have just closed the door)

The little bloke who lives in your fridge & who turns the light on & off when you open & close the door is playing games with you....
