Have a Thr op next Friday and therefore around 2 months off work. I've a few things I need to get done, but I'd like to improve my French further than the half dozen words I know now. Can anyone recommend an online course (free) that is good.?

Many thanks

I learnt the basics using Coffee Break French podcasts. It’s short 15 minute lessons you can fit as and when you like, not too intensive. Saying that, maybe something more intensive will suit your situation better.

Duolingo seems the best of the free ones. I tend to prefer something more structured, especially if you have significant amount of time so it might be worth spending a bit on a book as well

If you want to be able to speak quickly, try Pimsleurs. I have used it for Ukrainian, and I have found it utterly superb.

I love languages, and having tried numerous different programs at different times, have found Pimsleurs unparalleled for any language.
