anyone used them to get work? experiences? good or bad?

not sure how it's turned out, last time I spoke to him he was emailing a prospective coder.

I think sites like that are a race to the bottom in terms of income though. As long as it's a straightforward bit of work, then someone in Romania on £10 an hour can probably do it. Which means local freelancers wont win the job.

But if you have something special to offer, then its hard to be seen above the scrum on such sites.

I rely on working contacts, personal references and a little bit of linkedin for front of house.

I looked at this last year and it did seem like there was always someone in India who could afford to work for $10 US per hour.

i had a look when i was between jobs at the beginning of the year and came away thinking not worth it. It is very much a race to the bottom. You are competing with people who can afford to work for far less.
