I've got to go to La Rochelle for a week and wonder what the best way to get there is. It looks like I can get Eurostar then a TGV to Poitiers then maybe cycle from there. Is it OK taking bikes on the these trains? Any other ideas? Would like to take the bike but not if it's too much trouble.

You could fly from Stansted to Poitier.

I think you can take bikes on some TGVs on the TGV Ouest but in general they have to be in a bag. Maybe a ferry to St Malo or somewhere like that then a regional train?

Maybe that's the thing to do - bag up my bike and it'll just be like normal luggage and I can put where I want - well if there's space anyway.
