I live in Shropshire and found some woods which would be good to put a few trails in, mainly singletrack with the odd drop off/doubles etc. The woods isnt massive and there are only two public footpaths through it, if you want to build some tracks other than just getting on with it, is there any thing i need to check out officially first? the woods are barely walked, infact round the outside which would be a good push up have only been used by horses (but its def a public footpath, checked on the os)
If you ask and they say no you're stuffed.
If you build it, don;t tell anyone and don't put it on Strava you may get to keep it and can claim ignorance if challenged.
Do check it's not a SSSI or ancient monument.
Don't build stuff that go across public rights of way.
tbh, if you have a walk round you may well find stuff's already there...
Find the owner and ask them.
Build some skinnys in the canopy. No one looks up in the woods.
Nothing but bother as soon as "people" get involved. There's some very good man made trails in a certain woods near me and it causes loads of grief. The lads who have built them and maintain them do a great job to keep everyone happy but sometimes they're fighting a losing battle.
Less people that know, the better I'd say.
