You know how we have tags to embed videos, made to work with Youtube and Vimeo, right? Can we have a tag to link with Strava to give the little summary thumbnail thing they do?

Like on this site:

https://www.cardiffbybike.com/2016/03/23/challenging-climbs-around-cardiff/

It's just an iframe with the strava segment page with /embed on the end.

Is that even actually possible? I've half a memory that cross-site iframes are explicitly blocked in browsers to prevent malicious code.

EDIT: seems so, looking at that page. Live & learn.

Steady on, OP. What do you think this is? One of the biggest online cycling forums in 2016?

Features? Pffft. Have a word.

Yeah the site above is using an iframe. Strava publishes the code for embedding these in your site.

Browsers just restrict what the iframe has access to when cross domain. Script in the iframe has no access to the parent document for example.

You can have them but normally the JS etc cannot interact with the parent or other iframes on the page.

Can I also add a request for gifv format? I think they just need to use the HTML5 video tag. GIFs from supported sites (e.g. gfycat, imgur etc) will be then 1MB instead of 25MB.

I don't know what forum software this is, but if it's a customised off-the-shelf thingy then there's probably a plugin already written.

They can't even sort out their rouge adverts and code from the 90's, so what you are asking for is a nice idea, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

We have avatars. They only show up in comment on news articles (thankfully).

Ah! Yes, that's what I was thinking of. Sorry, it's been a while. The last time I did any serious webdev was in IIS on NT4 and the target browser was IE3 (or Netscape Navigator).

It's bbPress under the hood IIRC.

Why don't we just have the same software at MTB Britain then all the users that claim they block me can really do so with the IGNORE feature ?

What black borders?

The ones presumably which make the forum threads scroll in a really bizarre way (or is that just me?)

Is that the ignore feature that works on there being no one on there? 😀 Well, Maj is trying to revive it but think he's talking to himself 😆
