when did threads go 35 to the page from 40?

Its all about the cuts in here these days isn't it?

Its also far less numerically comfy. 35 has only four factors where as 40 has a much more pleasing eight.

I think all the panic reading over the last few days has lead to a shortage of pages so we're beign rationed.

[edit] Its also far less numerically comfy. 35 has only four factors where as 40 has a much more pleasing eight. good to see the OCD's still there 😉

I know what you mean about the factors. If it was 37 posts per page I would be most uncomfortable.

Question is: is there a 35th post glitch?

Less topics to the page means more pages - and therefore more ads being served up....

Does that mean the magical missing 40th posts will now start at 35?

Id have to ignore the 37th post, as 36 would give 9 factors. And all would be well.
Personally Id prefer it to be 28, as its a perfect number. The next one, 496, I think is a bit too unwieldy

Not with TJ back from his spell on the naughty step, it isn't.

I'd like to see a random number of posts per page - not completely randon, that'd be daft. Maybe between 25 and 50, but only odd numbers

Primes on some days as a special treat (or to drive stoner out do do some riding - or even work 😯 )

It's fewer, not less

Maybe they're trying to make us use less data in each post and that saved a whole 8 bytes, right there 😉

or is it fewer data

less datum

fewer datum

less datas

fewer datas?

just to check - is "wunundred !" (with a little dancing gif) still valid or can 97 replace it ?

You boys need to

1. Think about this stuff less
2. Drink less (fewer?) cups of coffee

I opened this thread expecting to be able to mock forum members outing themselves as dwarves.

Much disappointment.

More importantly does it have the X factor?

35 & 1 ? Just a guess, bearing in mind I thought 6 was the only perfect number so I'm probably wrong.
1+2+3=6
1x2x3=6

Prime factors of 5 and 7. Cheating to include 1 and 35 in my book 😉

Excluding them is logical laziness 😉

MTQG:

The first eight perfect numbers are 6, 28, 496, 8128, 33550336, 8589869056, 137438691328, 2305843008139952128.

and

if a perfect number is even it WILL be of the form q×2p?1, where q is prime.

thanks to Euler. p is prime.

Surely 60 would be a good choice then with twelve factors?
(1,2,3,4,5,6,10,12,15,20,30,60)

I believe they've switched to Solar PV to power the forum, and it's gone cloudy, so on reduced running now.

Would never have happened when it was nuke powered!

The question is, have they fixed the glitchy bump whilst they're at it?

Ah, perfect is just sum of the factors I think
Maybe 6 is also an AWESOME !! number because it's a product of its factors
