Long shot this I know, will ask on a sailing website as well but....

been offered a bargain GP14 from work colleague. A wooden one. Been told it's well looked after but any particular problem areas to check for?

I'm thinking mast step, centreboard casing, transom. anything else?

Cheers!

Only ever set foot in a GP once or twice and don't know what to look for I'm afraid (other than the obvious ones you've mentioned). probably worth registering on the Yachts and Yachting dinghy forum and asking there - plenty of help should be forthcoming.

I'd also look at the condition of the wood around where the shrouds meet the deck both above and below the deck.

Also usual checks of launching trolly/ trailer esp bearings and winch if it has one.

I think Speed Sails in Aldridge know everything about GP14s. Give them a call on 01922 455503.
